From the opening off-beat bassline to its conclusion the composition Tonight excites the listener with tuneful melodic lines that have an addictive quality, once heard they are never forgotten. Within the arrangement of the single version these elements are juxtaposed closely, sometimes masking one another; for this reason the extended version isolates each part individually allowing the listener to experience each melodic phrase by itself.
